Thank you for everyone who visited last week for the Long and Short Review Wednesday Blog Hop. This week our topic is our last meal.
This topic feels like a downer in a pandemic. So I’m going to reclassify this as my favorite meals by category. Let’s break bread.
Meal One: Hanging Out with Friends and Family
- Pizza, because its fun, it can be adapted to meet a variety of needs, and I have lots of great memories of social events with pizza
- Beer, because pizza is pretty salty, and beer is more thirst quenching than wine.
- Salad, because every meal needs a vegetable, and the cool crunch of salad seems to blend well with the softness of the cheese and chewiness of pizza crust.
- Chocolate cookies for dessert, and that makes a night of comfort food.
Meal Two: With that special someone
- Baked Salmon (NB: I’m a vegetarian who added this back into my diet because its my all time favorite and it made it easier to attend conferences for the day job).
- Roasted Asparagus and Brussel Sprouts
- Home made bread with anchovy butter (since I’m already having fish)
- Flan for dessert, with a side of berries and a dollop of whipped cream
- Savignon Blanc which is one of my favorite wines, preferably from New Zealand.
Meal Three: At home with family
- Vegetarian Matzoh Ball soup since its one of my signature dishes and soup always works. We also have a preference for eating relatively light. My soup is filled with vegetables.
- Chopped fruit and vegetables.
- Chocolate pudding for desert
- Wine, any type.
Meal Four: Home to myself. (Its nice to to treat yourself even when I’m alone).
- Linguini primavera (tomato sauce filled with lots of vegetables)
- Red wine, either shiraz, chianti or zinfandel
- Ice cream (either cookies and cream, Ben and Jerry’s Chocolate Therapy or Coffee, Coffee, Buzz, Buzz, Buzz). Sundaes always welcome.
My signature dishes: I’m a mediocre cook but I have what my daughter calls my signature dishes which are our family favorites (matzoh ball soup mentioned). In no special order, they are:
- Spinach Risotto
- Vanilla French Toast
- Baked Ziti
- Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies
So what are your signature dishes? Let me know if you want to swap recipes.

Everything on your list sounds amazing! And you were so detailed. 🙂
My post: https://lydiaschoch.com/wednesday-weekly-blogging-challenge-what-my-last-meal-would-be/
Thanks, Lydia. I added details because I love food, and working with food can be a creative outlet.
Skip the salmon and I’m in. It all sounds so yum. 🙂
Thanks, Megan.
Pumpkin chocolate chip cookies sound incredibly good.
There are amazing. And not just for Fall!
I love that you broke things down into categories. Honestly, I pictured “last meal — in prison” so, yeah. Everything you wrote sounded SO good and .. what is coffee, coffee, buzz, buzz, buzz? Because, coffee. I’d not heard of that flavor, though.
Coffee, coffee buzz, buzz, buzz is Ben and Jerry’s coffee ice cream packed with espresso bean fudge chunks. Its very, very good if you like coffee ice cream. It is caffeinated.
Love the direction you went with this, and those meals sound amazing.
Thanks, Michael. This seemed like a more positive way to answer the question.
