Hello Everyone! Welcome to the Long and Short Review Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge, where bloggers write on a common theme every Wednesday. This is my second year participating. Today’s topic is a real life event that no one would believe.

Honestly, it feels like we are living it every day.

The past few years have been one thing after another. Its as if the pandemic, social movements and so many other things lifted a veil we didn’t want to see behind, didn’t want to believe was there. But it was, and it is.

I never believed the USA was in danger of becoming an authoritarian or a nihilist country. Now I do.

I’ve always been an optimist at heart and never believed the future could be a dystopia. Now I do.

I’ve always believed we would figure out how to manage climate change. Now I’m not sure, and what’s coming is really hard to believe.

So it seems I’m being a downer again. Sorry! I do see other things, other trends, other possibilities that counter everything above, that do keep embers of hope burning. Its just all of the things I mentioned I had never really believed could be real, and now I do. And I am still adjusting to that truth.

Peace.

  • Teaching government, U.S. History and New Mexico history I always felt that the U.S. had too many checks and balances for a tyrant to seize power. It’s the eventual outcome according to Plato of democracy. Then George W. Bush when asked about the CIA water boarding prisoners, he said, “It’s a no brainer.”
That’s the start of totalitarianism. Trump has shown that tyrants are only after the money and use morality as their excuse.
My way of saying, I agree with you.
