Hello Everyone! Welcome to the Long and Short Review Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge, where bloggers write on a common theme every Wednesday. This is my second year participating. Today’s topic is authors I auto-buy.

I’m still rediscovering who I am and what I like as I adapt to all the changes wrought or revealed by the pandemic, and recognizing the more changes to come.

One of the biggest changes is what and how I read. During the first year of the pandemic, I stopped reading. I did not pick up a book. I stopped writing too.

Then, slowly, slowly, I let the things I had loved but couldn’t face, back into my life.

I am reading (and writing) but differently. I have focused on series, getting to know worlds and characters and watch them grow. Its like an escape to a different world, where the rules make sense once again. It feels like a step into safety from a world that no longer feels safe or certain. Because of that, I no longer have authors I buy per say, only parts of the series. And I must like the series.

Financially, I am trying to save every penny at the moment because my kid is in college and every penny I have and don’t yet have, count. So I’m depending on my local library and the apps that allow me to borrow e-books and auto books. With the three options, I usually am able to get all the books in my series du jour. I only auto buy now when I can’t get the book in a series in any other way. Right not, I am heavily involved in J.D. Robb’s In Death series. In an earlier blog I wrote for this blog hope, I questioned if I would finish it. I can tell you definitively, I will.

Please visit the other bloggers participating in the Long and Short Wednesday Blogging Challenge. I always enjoy learning from them and with them.

  • The In Death series is one on my auto-buy list (and I’m with you… it should be auto-read, because I don’t always buy the books. Sometimes I get them on audible and sometimes I get them from the library). Love following series and getting to know the characters.

  • Using the library is such a great way to save money and help the environment, too!

My reading habits were impacted by the pandemic as well. I’m glad you’re finding your footing again.

  • re: JD Robb vs. Nora Roberts….. same, girl! Nora’s books drive me up a frickin’ wall… but I love her JD Robb books. :::shrugging:::
