Thank you for everyone who visited last week for the Long and Short Review Wednesday Blog Hop. This week our topic our favorite binge watches.
Mine fall into two categories — mysteries and science fiction.
Mysteries
- Endeavour (young Morse): During the pandemic, I wanted a traditional mystery series (where each episode is its own mystery. There are not a lot of those anymore. I had loved Inspector Morse, so I thought I’d give this a try. No regrets!
- Inspector Morse: I was recovering from knee surgery and decided to wander down memory lane with this one. It was very cool to see this again after binging Endeavor, and seeing the connections I missed.
- Wallender – both the British and Swedish versions. I had loved the books, and these series followed them to a degree and, as above, offer a new mystery each time.
- I then binged Young Wallender, even though it was just a single mystery, but I saw it as an origin story and had fun with it.
Science Fiction
- The Expanse: One of my all time favorite binges. It really captures human beings in sophisticated ways, and the world is a fascinating one.
- Star Trek Discovery and Picard: I’m a star trek fan and I wasn’t going to pass these up. Because they are on CBS All Access, you have to binge watch them. I wait until they are all released, buy access for a month, and catch up with each season.
Thanks for dropping by. Please visit all the other bloggers participating on the blog hop.
It’s very cool to have so many new Star Trek shows out at once! Have you seen Star Trek: Lower Decks yet? It’s good.

I’ve been wanting to see the new Star Trek shows but haven’t because of Access…. good idea for waiting and buying the month. Thanks for that idea!
It’s hard to keep up with Star Trek, never heard of Lower Decks. Picard hasn’t held my interest for a second viewing.
I just finished season 3 of Discovery earlier this week. Need to start on Picard next!
My post
I haven’t watched any of these. Have been VERY tempted to get (now Paramount + I think) for Picard, though… it’s still on my possibilities list.
I grew up watching all the star treks. 🙂
Yes to mystery binge-watching! I started with Christie and Sherlock (old AND modern), went on to Hitchcock, Case Histories… I have heard superb things about Expanse. Really must try out that show!
Good to connect through Wednesday Weekly ~ Lex (lexlingua.co)
Love the Sherlocks myself. Thanks for dropping by.
I’ve read the first Expanse book, and I really need to either pick up the rest of the season, or watch the show, or both. I usually enjoy Star Trek, but I don’t really seek it out; that said, the preview for Picard looked really interesting.
I haven’t read the Expanse books, but I got pulled into the series, mostly because I really liked the characters.
