While I veer toward red wine because I like its boldness and spice, I’ve come to appreciate the pungency of a good Sauvignon Blanc. Its a white wine, associated with New Zealand, although other countries make it as well. I like its fresh bite and touch of the tropics giving it a tense, exotic feel, even as it remains on the lighter side. That exotic bite helps me through get those bittersweet moments in a romance – when the barrier between lovers seems too high even as the tug between them too strong.

Here’s a snippet between Erik and Elaina , the hero and heroine in Race to Redemption that captures one of those moments in their very rocky road to a happy ending. Grab a glass of Sauvignon Blanc and enjoy.

Come?” He extended his hand.

When she took it, the darkness that shadowed Erik’s eyes lightened. The tight lines that tarnished the edges of his mouth, a scarring of his perpetual scowl, relaxed. The overall impact made him look almost boyish. He caught her staring.

“What’s this pull between us, Erik that neither of us can walk away from?”

He shrugged his shoulders without dropping his gaze from her face. “We are on opposite sides, Lainie.  The Gren is an alternative to the corruption of the Coalition.”

“Do we have to be?”

He traced his finger along her lower lip. “Not now. Not here.” His voice went hoarse. A sad wisdom roughened his words.

“Lead on, Boss man.”

Race to Redemption Blurb

Intergalactic storm racing champion, Elaina Carteret, left the circuit in disgrace after a horrendous accident. Willing to deal with the devil, aka her business manager, she accepts a challenge for one last chance to fly again. The deal seemed easy – pose as Lainie Carter, medical transport pilot, and spy on a hospital outpost. Until she meets the director, Dr. Erik Johansen, who runs the station with an iron hand, a permanent scowl and the tightest bod on the planet.

Erik keeps his emotions and laboratories locked up tight. He once trusted a woman who turned out to be a spy—and millions died. When the sizzling hot Lainie Carter sashay’s into his office with her endless legs, pouty mouth and penchant for sneaking into forbidden areas, he knows she’s dangerous. If only she would stop sneaking into his fantasies.

When the outpost is attacked by mercenaries, the Diva and Dr. Dictator are thrown together in a race across the desert to save two dying children. As a fragile trust grows between their damaged hearts, will it be strong enough to survive the truths that threaten their growing bond?
