I’m sharing my favorite motivational quotes to get back into the rhythm of life.  January tends to throw me off kilter.

Quote 1:  Our Deepest Fear by Marianne Williamson from the Book, A Return To Love: Reflections on the Principles of A Course in Miracles

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

Quote 2:  On Science and Spirituality by Carl Sagan in The Demon-Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark

Science is not only compatible with spirituality; it is a profound source of spirituality. When we recognize our place in an immensity of light‐years and in the passage of ages, when we grasp the intricacy, beauty, and subtlety of life, then that soaring feeling, that sense of elation and humility combined, is surely spiritual. So are our emotions in the presence of great art or music or literature, or acts of exemplary selfless courage such as those of Mohandas Gandhi or Martin Luther King, Jr. The notion that science and spirituality are somehow mutually exclusive does a disservice to both.

Quote 3:  On Becoming Your True Self by George Eliot (Mary Anne Evans)

Its never too late to be who you might have been.

Quote 4:  On not Getting What You Want by the Dalai Lama

Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck.

Quote 5:  On Becoming a Hero by Eleanor Roosevelt

We do not have to become heroes overnight. Just a step at a time, meeting each thing that comes up, seeing it as not as dreadful as it appears, discovering that we have the strength to stare it down.

    • Thanks, Mandy. Its easy to be thrown off kilter in January. I can’t say I feel back on, but maybe because routine is an illusion we create. With a teen-age daughter, trying for a routine is probably an effort in futility. 🙂
