When dealing with physical systems, which our bodies are, then things can go wrong–naturally or by our own actions.
Korsakoff Syndrome, a memory disorder resulting from a deficiency of thiamine (vitamin b-1), is such an example. Thiamine helps brain cells generate energy from sugar. Insufficient energy inhibits brain function and when severe, may cause this syndrome. Alcohol abuse is the most common cause of someone developing this, but AIDS, poor nutrition and chronic infections may also have this impact.
I am going to keep this post short, as I don’t like to linger on what can go wrong. I am more fascinated by how things work, how we make meaning out of it, and what might be.

I have never heard of Korsakoff Syndrome – but then again there are so many out there. Lots of diseases may cause memory loss, so what you’re saying is, in theory thiamine supplements may prevent people from developing this one?
Happy Friday!

Thanks for dropping by Tamara. I think I’d be more comfortable saying eat a health diet, rather than recommending anything to any one.
