Hello Everyone! Welcome to the Long and Short Review Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge, where bloggers write on a common theme every Wednesday. This is my second year participating. Today’s topic is do we believe in aliens.

Yes.

As a lifelong Star Trek and science fiction, fan, I really can’t believe otherwise. But more than that, I just don’t believe we are alone in the universe. If there is some sort of grand plan or universal spirit, looking at the world today, we aren’t all that the universe could be. So I doubt we are.

And if we are the only ones ~shudder~ we need to get a lot better at taking care of ourselves, our neighbors and the world. Because if we are the only ones, that makes us too much like gods. And that feels like a great big joke or a failed experiment. While I truly believe that each and everyone one of us has greatness within us, as a world and as species, we have a long way to go.

Sorry to be downer, but the world is a scary place at the moment, and maybe it always was. The idea of aliens, that there is more out there, to me is a form of hope. And I have always been optimistic and hopeful (even if this post is not a great example of that.)

Happy Wednesday.
