Hello Everyone! Welcome to the Long and Short Review Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge, where bloggers write on a common theme every Wednesday. This is my second year participating,

Today’s theme is favorite genre. I

I can’t choose one, because I go on genre binges. So the order below is random not ranked.

First, I love a good mystery, and I love them best with Detectives who matter to me. I go on mystery binges when the world feels crazy and out of control. Mysteries are really about when the world goes into a dive but order is restored at the end. The reason mysteries work well here is that the order that comes out in the end is not the same type of order that started in the book. It recognizes that major change requires healing, and while we heal and restore our lives, we are changed by it. Of late, I’ve also found mysteries are a great way to see the world. I went on a murder round the world binge – actively seeking out detectives from different countries. It was a fun way to visit other places, see new cultures, and understand that there is not one way to solve a crime or one set of barriers.

Second, I love a good romance. I binge romances when I need hope, and faith that there is an HEA, that not only can we get through whatever we are facing, but can come out better and better connected on the other end. Everyone deserves their happiness, and romance delivers that.

Finally, I love science fiction and fantasy. While the first two genres are about going on an emotional journey, this one is really about intellectual stimulation. I love how people create new worlds, imagine the possible and impossible, question what might be and what it might look like, take who we are and how we are to the next level.

Sometimes, its fun when all of these elements come together such as in science fiction or fantasy romance where the plot revolves around a mystery.
