Hello Everyone! Welcome to the Long and Short Review Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge, where bloggers write on a common theme every Wednesday. This is my second year participating. Today’s topic is a book world I’d like to live in.

I’ve been rereading Nalini Singh’s Psy-Changeling series, which takes place in a different reality earth, about 60 years in the future. The world has been falling apart because the Psy race, had been descending into madness. Although they have taken steps toward healing, change is hard, factions emerge, and, for various reasons, the Psynet which holds them together, is fracturing and deteriorating as a result. In many ways, the world feels like today, trying to recover from so much, and with each step forward, a new challenge emerges from the mistakes of their past (feel familiar).

Why do I want to live here? The Changelings live in packs–which are great big extended families. Some are more over the top social than others, but right now, after all of the isolation from the pandemic and years of divisiveness, living in a great big extended family where everyone has your back feel pretty good. Changeling packs are also highly physical places but with solid rules around that so no one feels used or abused in the exchange of any type of physical exchange, even the simplest of touches. Right now, a place of belonging, nurturing, and hugs feels like a place I’d want to live in.
