In December, I’m thrilled to be releasing the first book of my Green Rising science fiction romance series.  In this post, I’m sharing the series backstory to invite you into the world of Green Rising.

Even after a century, the truce between the Terran-Magaran Coalition and the Den Vedran Empire remains uneasy, ever on the verge of collapse.  The Portfolio Corporations who fund the governments grow fat off the chronic interstellar tension and the excessive consumption of the guarded classes, who hoard resources kept purposefully scarce.   Electronic bugs watch over everyone, sending information continuously to the intergalactic grid.  For many, there is no escape.

Corruption runs rampant. Poverty and suffering have spread like a plague throughoutShanghai city network technology the galaxies, sparking minor acts of revolt.  In response, the leaders of the Coalition and the Empire, supported by their portfolio corporations, invested in the creation of a Cyborg security force. Half humanoid-half machine, their programming is to protect and subject.  Hard to control, the borgs became feared throughout the known universe.

Below the surface, a rebel group —the Gren An Dane—is working. They have designed a way around the resource scarcity and promise a life based on abundance.

As corporate greed spirals out of control and the borgs became more volatile, the Gren’s reach extends. Its name is whispered across the tenements, in the alley ways, on the lips of those who have little or nothing.  “Green Rising,” they say.  And so, in the shadows, an alternative spreads from planet to planet, species to species.

But neither the intergalactic governments nor the corporations have any intention of ceding power.
