I’m pleased to be back with SexySnippets, where authors share 7-8 lines/sentences of a book or work in progress. My sexy new science fiction romance, Race to Redemption, releases in December from Evernight Publishing. Its book one of the series Green
Rising. So I’m going to be introducing my characters over the next month, in anticipation. In this snippet, meet Elaina, our heroine (see picture). Elaina Carteret is the nine times intergalactic storm racing champion, whose life has taken a serious nosedive. In this snippet, she just lost a race, because her opponent cheated.
The race adrenaline in her blood wilted, killing her will to face the crowds. Drained and depressed, she maneuvered her flyer out of the Drome and straight to her private hanger. Two rigged championships. Two losses. She should be livid, on her wristvid, throwing a diva tantrum at the race management and promising a comeback to her fans on the grid chatter screen.
When not in the race flow, she couldn’t cough up energy to breathe on her own. It was all too much. The deaths, the betrayals, the ripping away of everything in her life. She was as dry and empty as the desert she called home.

Here’s the draft blurb.
A woman who lost everything
Intergalactic storm racing champion Elaina Carteret had it all—celebrity, wealth, men—until a horrific accident took it away. To get it back, she agrees to pose as Lainie Carter, medical transport pilot and corporate spy. Her risk-taking attitude infuriates Dr. Erik Johansen, who runs the medical outpost with an iron hand, a permanent scowl and the tightest bod on the planet.
A man desperate for redemption
Unable to forgive himself for a past tragedy, Erik works himself into an early grave. He has no patience for the insubordinate Lainie Carter, who can’t take an order, disrupts routine, and flames his body to ash.
A planet at risk
When the outpost is attacked, they’re thrown together in a race across the desert to stop a deadly biogenetic weapon. As a fragile trust blossoms between two damaged hearts, their pasts resurface and threaten their growing bond.
Goodness, you really feel her anguish in this snippet. Fabulous Shari!
Thanks, Doris. I’m so glad the comments are working. Now I just need to figure out how to get the system to approve them faster. 🙂
Very emotional snippet!
Thanks, Ravenna.
