In a world where reproduction is the number one priority, a gay wolf shifter could never be an alpha. So Logan hides his secret from the pack and resigns himself to a life without love.

Then one night, he finds his true mate and he’s forced to make a choice.

Excerpt

Logan lived to help others, and right now, he wanted this boy to live. Only a human could remove the hideous contraption on his paw. Logan started to force a shift.

Rolling his head from side to side, Logan groaned as his body changed. Layers of muscle and fatty tissue muted the sounds of bones popping and realigning. Black fur receded, revealing tanned flesh. In a matter of minutes, it was over. Human Logan sat on his haunches. Already he missed the primal earthiness of his animal self.

The trapped wolf eyed human Logan warily. Logan didn’t blame him for being suspicious. He wanted to gain the wolf’s trust and vowed he wouldn’t make a promise he couldn’t keep.

“My name is Logan. I’m Alpha of the Maccon Pack and I want to help you. If you lie still I think I can free your paw, but I can’t promise it won’t hurt.” Logan reached out a hand and the animal nuzzled his palm.

Logan took it as a good sign. More than ever, he believed he was dealing with another shifter. Logan still smelled pain and fear on the wolf, but calm compassion seemed to be a bridge between them.

“You understand me, don’t you? I mean you no harm. I’ll try to open the trap now.” Logan waited a few seconds to see if the wolf would resist. The animal stared up at him, but he didn’t move. “Okay. Here we go.”

Logan put his hands on the springs at each side of the trap. He pressed down. The jaws relaxed, but not enough to free the paw. The trap was old and rusty, but still well-set. Thank God, Logan’s wolf blood gave him extra strength along with his heightened senses. He pressed harder, letting out a sigh of relief when the clamps opened further.
